Halloween is fast approaching and let’s face it, the scariest part of this holiday is not the ghosts and goblins, it’s the endless supply of candy.

Sometimes I feel like everywhere I look I see huge bowls of candy and honestly, those mini Snickers bars can be pretty tough to resist.  Know what I mean?

While this seasonal holiday may be famous for candy corn, caramel apples and chocolate bars, it doesn’t have to be all about sugar.

Believe it or not, healthy snack options are trending right now so maybe it’s time to ditch the store bought candy and make these super cute Halloween treats instead.

What I love about these little cuties is that because they’re so fun and festive no one will notice how healthy they are.  Now that’s what I call a trick and a treat…lol.

Banana Ghosts – Cut the bananas in half and use chocolate chips or your favorite seeds for the face of the ghost.

Clementine Pumpkins – Peel the orange, insert a piece of celery in the top and voila, it looks just like a pumpkin.

Monster Jaws – Take two apples slices and slather your favorite nut butter on one side of each apple slice.  Line one apple slice with macadamia nuts or cashews for the teeth, then lay the other apple slice on top and chomp away.

Now I know that even with the best of intentions, sometimes we just need some chocolate.  Am I right?

When my chocolate cravings start to creep up on me, I head straight to the kitchen and make myself a batch of these hauntingly good chocolate almond butter bars.

Trust me….one bite of these bars and you’ll never eat store bought candy again.  They’re that good!

Halloween may be a holiday devoted to candy but that doesn’t mean you’re doomed to mindlessly eat bags of it.

Maybe it’s time to create some new traditions and what better way to do that than with these frightfully yummy homemade treats.

They’re easy to prepare, fun to eat and I’m certain they’ll please even your pickiest ghost.

Have a spooktacular Halloween!
